NHS Highland was awarded funding from the Scottish Government in 2013 to trial and evaluate alternative models of primary healthcare in some of the most remote and fragile communities in the Highlands and Islands. Inspired by the Southcentral Foundation in Alaska's NUKA model, this workshop is designed to give a flavour of the emerging models being introduced, the story so far... and, to demonstrate how recruitment and retention with strong community resilience are key factors in establishing sustainability for future healthcare provision.
