Kathryn A. Nearing, Ph.D. is an Associate Director of The Evaluation Center in the School of Education and Human Development at the University of Colorado, Denver. Dr. Nearing brings 14 years of experience designing and implementing large-scale evaluations in the fields of education and public health. She currently serves as a lead evaluator for the Colorado Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (CCTSI), one of the clinical translational science award sites funded nationally. The comprehensive evaluation is focused on examining how the CCTSI fosters 1) innovations in medical education, 2) the professional development, training and career advancement of historically under-represented biomedical researchers, and 3) new discoveries and innovative approaches to addressing national health priorities. As a medical/applied anthropologist, Dr. Nearing has a particular interest in community-based health promotion, health disparities and rural health.
