Cathy Hughes: Marketing and Alumni Officer I have been based at the University of South Australia's only regional campus at Whyalla, located 400kms northwest of Adelaide, since 2002. My role is essentially to provide marketing and public relations functions for all staff at the campus, as well as provide marketing leadership for the UniSA regional engagement strategy. I am the director of the Applied Statistics Unit at the Whyalla Campus at the University of South Australia. The Unit carries out statistical services for university staff and external clients. I lecture in mathematics and statistics at the campus as well. My research interests include Biostatistics and statistical work in engineering applications.

I'm currently the research degree coordinator for the School of Health Sciences, University of South Australia. The School teaches undergraduate/postgraduate and research degrees in physiotherapy, occupational therapy, medical radiation, podiatry and human movement. I'm interested in a diverse array of areas including health assessment, intervention and evidence based practice as well as online delivery and interactive learning within online environments. My background is in physiotherapy and predominantly in the assessment and management of acute and chronic cardiorespiratory diseases. Research wise, my experience and bent is towards quant experimental methods but don't hold that against me!
