I have been Director of the Joseph F. Sullivan Center, an academic nurse-managed health center, since 1994. Under my leadership, the Center has received numerous awards for excellence in community outreach and service including: SC Office of Minority Health Access to Care Award, SC Rural Health Association Award of Merit for Excellence in Research, State Health Plan Prevention Partners Award for Collaboration, SC Best Chance Network Provider Facility of the Year and SC Migrant Health Program Innovative Programs Award. I have been the PI and/or Project Director on numerous grants including Accessible and Culturally Competent Hispanic Health Care funded by Department of HHS (HRSA), Avon Health Connector Project funded by the Avon Breast Care Fund and the Mountain Rest Project funded by the Appalachian Regional Commission. I have been a consultant to the School of Nursing at Radford University on a Basic Nurse Education and Practice Grant for the implementation of an interdisciplinary health clinic with a mobile health unit. I have presented at numerous professional conferences, nationally and internationally. I was a semi-finalist for the RWJ Executive Nurse Fellows Program, 2004. I am a graduate of the Johnson & Johnson/UCLA Health Care Executive Program, 2003. In 2002, I received the Excellence in Writing Award from the SC Nurses Association and Arthur L. Davis Publishing Company for my article entitled "Avon health connector project: Connecting low-income women to breast and cervical cancer screening".
