Dr. James Rourke is Professor Emeritus, Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada. He was Dean of Medicine and Professor of Family Medicine at Memorial from 2004 to 2016. Previously, Dr. Rourke was a rural generalist family physician for 25 years in Goderich, Ontario where he was the founding Director of the Southwestern Ontario Rural & Regional Medicine Program of the University of Western Ontario and Assistant Dean, Rural & Regional Medicine. Dr. Jason R. Frank is a Research Associate in Office of Education, the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and the Director of Education in the Department of Emergency Medicine, University of Ottawa. He is also an Associate Member of the Department of Graduate Studies, Ontario Institute for Studies in Education.
He obtained his MD from the University of Ottawa Faculty of Medicine, and his FRCPC in Emergency Medicine at the University of Toronto. He has a Masters of Education from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education. He has published and presented widely in medical education, where his research interests include: faculty development, program evaluation, and curriculum development. He is known for his work with the Royal College on the CanMEDS Project since 1994, and as an award-winning teacher. He was the 2005 EM Teacher of the Year in Canada, an honour awarded by the Canadian Association for Emergency Physicians (CAEP).
