I am a rural district nurse interested in how to provide the best possible health promotion and care for people in my community and other areas where access to appropriate care is difficult. I have previously researched the attitudes of nurses to providing care to people with mental health problems in a rural general hospital. Currently I am in the last stages of researching how district nurses advocate successfully for the end-of-life goals of rural Australians with the aim of developing a model for advocacy that can be used to guide practice.
