I am a bio-cultural Anthropologist working in the Central and Eastern Parts of India. My research generally explores the bio- social & bio-cultural aspect of health and nutritional status among the scheduled tribes in India. My specific research interest investigates the inter-relationship between forest conservation, rehabilitation/displacement issues and its impact on food security among the Indian tribes living in different protected areas in India. My Current research projects include household food security and nutritional status among the Rabha Tribe living in Northern Part (Jaldapara and Buxa Wildlife Sanctuary in Dooars) of West Bengal, India. In course of doing work on food security, I am also trying to explore the impact of climate change on food security and the use of traditional knowledge for mitigating these problems by the Indigenous groups in India. I have published several articles on the themes of chronic energy deficiency and its correlates among the scheduled tribes in Central and Eastern India. Specifically, I have published few articles on the current livelihood condition (Socio-economic aspect of health and nutritional status) of Indian tribes living inside protected areas and their rehabilitated counterparts.
