Idethia Shevon Harvey is an Associate Professor within the Department of Health and Kinesiology at Texas A & M University. Dr. Harvey is a public health gerontologist with an emphasis on ethnogerontology. Dr. Harvey investigates the effect of social support and social networks in health behavioral changes among baby boomers and older adults. Her research contrasts sociocultural factors (e.g., interactions between individuals with other individuals, groups or communities) with structural factors (e.g., interactions of individuals with their environment) as it pertains to behavioral management of obesity related co-morbidities through physical activity.
