Paulene is a Senior Lecturer in Social Work At Charles Darwin University, based at the Mparntwe, Alice Springs Campus. Prior to her appointment at CDU, Paulene was a Research Fellow and project manager at the National Ageing Research Institute from 2012 -2022. Paulene has a background in anthropology and social work and has worked as a social worker with older people in a range of urban, regional and remote settings across Australia. Her research interests include generating knowledge that is responsive to the expressed needs of older people, their families and communities. In recent years, Paulene has coordinated the development of a collaborative program of research that is exploring how Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Art Centres support their Elders to remain strong and connected. She is currently completing her PhD at RMIT with the support of a scholarship from the Dementia Australia Research Fund. Her PhD is exploring relational methodologies with three Aboriginal controlled art centres.

Chrischona is the manager at Ikuntji Artists, a not-for-profit Indigenous art centre in Haasts Bluff, 230km west of Alice Springs. Her doctoral research focused on the history of the Utopia art movement and the art market. Chrischona's research results from her role as art centre manager.
