Tracy is a Registered Nurse by training, holds both Baccalaureate and Masters degrees in nursing and is a PhD candidate in nursing, in the final stages of her doctoral program at the University of Alberta. Tracy has over 25 years clinical nursing expertise working with clients of unique and varied backgrounds in numerous primary care settings including rural, community, medical-surgical, paediatric, long-term care, and Intensive Care. Her research interests include: Health care access and outcomes among vulnerable, underserved populations; Indigenous and rural health; and Nursing preceptorship. She holds numerous memberships in professional nursing associations including the International Rural Nursing Organization (RNO) and the Health Services Quality Institute (HSQI) at the University of Lethbridge. She has acted as co-investigator with the Institute in a previous study examining health care delivery models among long-term care and assisted living facilities across rural and urban Alberta. She has additional previous research and clinical practice experience working with individuals and families belonging to various cultural and ethnic groups, including but not limited to Kanadier Mennonites, Hutterites, and Aboriginal people in rural Southern Alberta, and nursing students, faculty advisors and preceptors during preceptorship.
