Dr Md Anwarul Azim Majumder received his MBBS from Chittagong Medical College, Bangladesh in 1985; Master of Health Personnel Education (MHPEd) from School of Medical Education, University of New South Wales, Australia in 1991; his Doctor of Philosophy (medical education) from the Centre for Medical Education at the University of Dundee, UK in 2000, and Diploma in Health Economics from Dhaka university, Bangladesh in 2001. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, UK. Dr Majumder has recently joined as the Director of Medical Education in the Faculty of Medical Sciences, Cave Hill Campus, University of the West Indies, Barbados. Previously, he worked as a Lecturer at the Clinical Sciences Department, School of Medical Sciences, University of Bradford, UK (2004-16) and was actively involved in widening participation of medicine programme and problem-based learning. He also worked in the Centre for Medical Education, Bangladesh (1992-2001), and the Department of Medical Education of the School of Medical Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia (2001-04) and was actively involved with innovation and experimentation of community-oriented medical education, competency-based education, and problem-based learning. He has extensive experience in HRH management, education and training; planning, development, and evaluation of medical, dental, nursing and allied health professional curricula; and designing, conducting and evaluating of faculty development programmes for the teachers (medical, dental, nursing, paramedical etc.) on teaching methodology, curriculum planning, program evaluation, quality assurance in medical education, medical ethics, and educational research. While working in the Centre for Medical Education, Bangladesh, he contributed to the development and implementation of many educational, training and research projects and programs sponsored by the United Nations and other international agencies e.g. World Health Organization, British Council, Department for Internal Development, United Nations Population Fund, and World Bank. Dr Majumder was the Founding ecretary-General of the National Association of Medical Education (NAME), Bangladesh and the President of the Union of Risk Management for Preventive Medicine (URMPM), Bangladesh Society. He is also the Executive Editor of the South East Asia Journal of Public Health (published by the Public Health Foundation Bangladesh). He has published a number of peer reviewed papers on medical education and health care.
